Zanjeer Movie 50 Years: Amitabh Bachchan’s film Zanjeer, released in the year 1973, was very much discussed. In this, he played the role of Inspector Vijay, after which he came to be known as ‘Angry Young Man’. The release of this movie has completed 50 years.

Pran recommended casting Amitabh
Pran played the role of Sher Khan in Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Zanjeer’. This is such a character which is still in people’s mind. Interestingly, Pran had recommended director Prakash Mehra to cast Amitabh. Earlier, Dharmendra wanted to play the role of Inspector Vijay in the film Zanjeer, but it could not happen.

According to Times of India, Prakash Mehra’s son Puneet had told that, ‘Dharmendra had the script of Zanjeer. He offered Prakash Mehra to direct this film. Along with this, Dharmendra wanted to play the lead role in Zanjeer. After this Dharmendra got busy with his other works for almost a year, but Prakash Mehra could not wait for him and then he bought the script from Dharmendra for Rs.3500.
Many superstars rejected the film Zanjeer
After this, Prakash Mehra first offered the film to Raj Kumar, but he wanted it to be shot in Hyderabad. At the same time, this film also went to Dev Anand, but he wanted to sing in it. After this, on Pran’s recommendation, director Prakash Mehra saw Amitabh Bachchan’s film Bombay to Goa. Puneet told that his father jumped with joy after seeing Amitabh Bachchan in the film. After this, he immediately cast Amitabh for the role of Inspector Vijay.
